20 Perfect Things That Never Need Any Improvement
Do you . . .
like lists of people, places and things? Some do. Some don't. I do. With a quieted-passion. Give me a list of, for instance, "5 Perfect Women In Our U.S.A.," and I am ready to read it about ten or twenty times. Or a list telling, "The Easiest Legal Ways To Make Extra Cash," and I'm already in my recliner with my feet up and a cup of fresh coffee sitting beside me as I peruse this list that will ultimately make me a millionaire.
Or . . .
give me a list that says, "How I Can Be Sexy At 58 And With No Hair," and I will buy the publishing company that runs this information. Simply put. I am a "List Freak" from way back. But to be honest, there are ONLY TWO lists that I despise: A list of "Things To Do" around the house and "Errands To Do On Any Fall Saturday Afternoon," the perfect time of the year when college football, my favorite sport of sports, is being telecast. These two trouble making, stress-producing lists, you can have. And all of them you want.
So with "short lists" in mind . . .
I am proud to publish for the very-first time, on any website, my all-time list of "20 Perfect Things That Never Need Improving." Hope you agree with some. And if you disagree with some. That's fine too. Isn't it great to live in the United States?
VINCENT VAN GOGH was a master painter. A master in every sense of the word. From his priceless painting, "Sunflowers," to the tortured faces of people in his village, Vincent van Gogh was able to capture the souls of these people who made up his very life. Van Gogh was never content to be "perfect." He was constantly striving to capture the true feelings of his subject while allowing his paintbrushes to breathe the breath of life into them. Vincent was one of a kind. And will never be improved upon.
THE FEMALE TALK SHOW HOST OF RADIO IN 2012 can never be improved upon. In any way. Female radio talk show hosts are intelligent, professional, and know their business. Give me a female radio personality any day. There's something about a female radio personality that keeps my attention far longer than the voice of a man. I don't know why, but this I do know. Anyone contemplating changes to the female radio personality, do me a favor and "leave perfection alone."
SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN to me, is "the perfect meal." Yes, I know that I am very biased in my views. The dish, southern fried chicken, is simple to prepare. Nothing complicated about southern fried chicken if prepared by someone who is an expert at frying chicken. Something must be great about this "heavenly" delicacy for it has made millions of people from all places in the world very happy for lots of years. Why tamper with something this good?
SOUTHERN HOMES are a sight that I never grow tired of seeing when I get to go out riding with my wife. Since I cannot drive anymore due to the Fibromyalgia and Neurothopy that has taken up residence in my body, my wife takes me to places that feature southern-built homes. Places such as Vicksburg and Gulfport, Mississippi as well as some beautiful southern homes around Atlanta, Georgia. I love these structures. And issue an open dare to anyone who wants to improve them.
KATHY LEE GIFFORD is arguably, the world's most-ideal woman. She is witty, charming to a fault, generous, highly-intelligent and immaculate. Regis Philbin made a huge mistake in allowing Kathy Lee to leave the "Regis and Kathy Lee Show," and "trying" to replace her with Kathy Rippa. Sorry, ABC. Maybe next century, you might find a true replacement for such a lady as Kathy Lee Gifford, but not any way soon.
OLD GLORY stands for more than a free country. She stands for our lives and many freedoms that we foolishly take for granted with me being the most-guilty of the accused. Our flag has survived every war and conflict that our country has taken her into and still stands proud, even with her battle scars, of a proud people. A free people. Free of tyranny, dictatorship and religious persecution. To have Old Glory "improved" upon would be the same as slapping me in the face with a piece of lumber. No, that slap wouldn't hurt near as bad as seeing our illustrious flag fall into foolish hands that stand for something new.
THE MANGER SCENE to "some" in our country, is nothing more than a set of plastic statues of people who they don't even know. Jesus, the Christ child included. Why do away or improve something that actually happened to carve out a good pathway in the history of our world? Jesus has never did any harm to the special-interest groups or the A.C.L.U. Plus the atheists who do not believe in Christ at all. Why bother if you don't believe? And let us who do believe in Christ alone. I do not see you tampering with those who follow Buddah, or Allah.
THE SNOWMAN has been a part of wintertime and Christmas for generations. Some wanted to change the name of the snowman to "snow person," but do you really grasp just how stupid that title sounds? "Frosty, The Snow Person," what an ignorant title of a Christmas standard. Give me real snowmen. And snow women. They are perfect the way they are no matter whom or what age of people builds them.
The rest of my photos of "people and things that need no improvement," will not require me to give you a commentary on each photo, but maybe a two-sentence "honor" of these people and things that have made my life better by just being around.
OLD BARNS always keep me spell-bound. I love the memories these old buildings hold. And for the owner of these true pieces of American carpentry, it holds a bigger place in their hearts for most-assuredly, their children and grandchildren played many hours in these old barns.
BLUEGRASS BANDS are a joy to hear. And a good bluegrass band makes you want to thank God for your sense of hearing.
CHILDREN are perfect. No improvement needed. They know not a thing about violence, war, drugs and abusing one another. Their little world is made of pure, unvarnished peace. Oh, to be a child once more.
CHRISTMAS TREES always, without fail, touch my heart every Christmas season. Would Christmas be Christmas without these beautiful creations? Sure. But would a master chef present a perfect cake without the tasty icing?
ANTIQUE COKE SIGNS are almost everywhere in my hometown of Hamilton, Alabama. I see a lot of these "perfect" advertising vehicles in a local restaurant, OH! Bryan's Family Steak House, owned by three perfect friends of mine, Tony and Amanda Lovett with Tony's brother, Roger. Amanda is the one of the threesome who loves to collect Coke signs.
COFFEE cannot be perfected, for it is already perfect in my humble opinion. I use three pieces of equipment most everyday: My coffee maker, my PC and my chair to sit in while writing hubs and sipping my "perfect" beverage: Coffee.
CUPCAKES not bananas, are "nature's perfect food." Cupcakes are good anytime of the day or night. Cupcakes can be given as gifts for anniversaries, birthdays and Christmas. And a young guy can surely make valuable points with the pretty girl he is taking on date when he presents her with a dozen cupcakes. And they are more-affordable than red roses.
ANGELS are a part of my life. I have to believe in angels for God made angels long before He even had "us" mortals on His mind. For me to not believe in angels would mean for me to take a permanent marker and a pair of scissors and mark and cut-out the things from The Bible that do not fit my belief system. Not on your life, is all I can say to those who want to waste their time in improving angels.
HAYSTACKS are as American as Chevrolet. What child in rural America hasn't sneaked a nap inside the security and warmth of a big haystack? Playing or napping in a haystack is one of life's simple-but-priceless treasures that has for the most part, been overlooked. And no, it cannot be made better.
HOUND DOGS make the "ideal friend." You want to know why? Hound dogs are humble, loyal and non-possessive. They seldom complain about their food, housing or choice of collars. They are with the broken-hearted when a loved-one says, "we are history," or when their owner's lose a job, even a home. The hound dog is, to me, "perfect," even with their flaws. I would love for my wife to have a hound dog bark as a gesture of honor when I am laid to rest.
J.D. SALINGER was to American literature what Vincent van Gogh was to priceless paintings. Salinger's "A Catcher In The Rye," besides the Bible, is my all-time favorite book. Salinger's honest, raw writing style is captured in its infancy and yet attains to a invulnerable destiny of being a true literary masterpiece than no writer then or now can write any better.
