Why I Love Gillette shaving products . . .
Trust Your Face To Gillette Shaving Products. Your Face Will Thank You.
There are special moments in every man’s life. His birth, first steps, first day of school, high school and college graduation, career success, wife, children, and retirement from living and working to have a rich, full life.
But somewhere in this list of special things for men, another special moment exists: the first time that he learns to shave. Talk about the ultimate father/son boding, this would be it. Most young men don’t just come to this special age in their lives and begin shaving, most boys let their dads teach them how to shave correctly. Some guys, like me, had to learn the hard way--and ended up with a face full of cuts, scratches and some humbling humiliation to make it worse.
I started shaving at thirteen. For a youngster, my dad told me that I had a pretty good beard started to be this young and he also gave me some more priceless wisdom, “Kenny, when you first start shaving, you will have to keep shaving for the rest of your life,” and with that brutal statement, I just had to reply, “Why?” the one-word question of all thirteen-year-olds. My dad explained that when men shave, their beards grow back thicker and harder to shave as time goes by. And he was right.
I remember well looking into the medicine cabinet mirror with a barber’s cup (that my dad had bought for himself years ago) in one hand and an old-fashioned razor in the other hand. My razor was the type that you had to twist the handle causing the head, that had two doors, to open and insert a new Gillette blade. For my dad and now myself, there wasn’t any other brand of blades but Gillette.
Gillette was, and is, a super-great company. Gillette was all-American to the bone. They even sponsored “Friday Night Fights,” where boxers of all weight-levels competed for belts and prize money as the live (and young television) audiences cheered them on. My dad was one of the biggest fans of Gillette’s “Friday Night Fights,” but we didn’t own a television, but walked to a neighbor lady, Mrs. Gloe Roberts’ house so he could see his favorite show on her black and white Philco television.
I am not going to sit here and tell you young men who are about to cross the threshold of life and start shaving that it is a fun thing. It’s not, if you use another shaving gel besides Gillette Foamy. Take my word for it. I didn’t know what I was doing the very first time my dad let me shave on my own and neither will you. I highly-recommend Gillette Foamy as your first and always-brand for your shaving times.
Gillette Foamy is specially-engineered to make your beard soft and easy to cut. No man wants his beard to ‘pull’ when his razor crosses the whiskers. Now I did have a tough friend when I was in the ninth grade. He was proud of the fact that he could ‘dry shave,’--meaning he used no foam or shaving soap to soften his beard. And as another act of toughness, he splashed his newly-shaven face with rubbing alcohol when he finished shaving. I was never that tough. That’s why I loved to use Gillette razor blades in my younger years, and now I use a Gillette Fusion razor that is like shaving with a laser beam. Gillette Fusion is just that good, men. And to be totally-honest, I have been guilty of trying other shaving products such as Edge, the jelly-like stuff that is supposed to make your beard soft while keeping your face moist as you shave. Guess what? Edge cannot come close to Gillette Foamy in texture, softness, and down-right ease when it comes to shaving--it’s as if your whiskers just slide off your face when you use Gillette Foamy or Gillette Fusion shaving cream.
And yes, while I am confessing my ‘shaving sins,’ I have been known to use Bic Disposable Razors and for their cheap price, they are just that--cheap. I could never get a clean, close shave with a Bic Disposable Razor, but when I started using Gillette Fusion razors, things changed. I had found THE razor for me. Just like Gillette Foamy as THE foam for my shaving, the tandem was complete with a Gillette Fusion razor that is so easy to use and feels comfortable in my hand.
While I am telling my truthful-testimony about Gillette Fusion razors and Gillette Foamy, please allow me to personally endorse just the colognes that men should wear when going to school, work, or even to a social event: Polo Cologne or the old original-but-trusted Brut cologne that makes a man smell like a man. And I have never been around any man who wanted to smell feminine, but pure, raw, and manly--of course to impress their wives or girlfriends.
And now you young pre-shavers have my personal endorsements for THE razor to use: GILLETTE FUSION and THE shaving foam; GILLETTE FOAMY or GILLETTE FUSION that makes your face feel great during and after you shave. And with a splash of Polo, Eternity or Brut cologne, you are set for a great evening out with your wife or girlfriend who literally adores your clean, shaven face and that manly aroma that you have thanks to these brands of men’s colognes.
I loved Gillette in “my monumental moment” and today I still love Gillette Fusion Razors and Gillette Foamy that softens my beard and makes my shaving a pleasure, not a dreaded chore.
And while I am older and don’t go out that much, when my wife and I do go out for an evening, I am always clean-shaven when I use my trusty and much-appreciated Gillette Fusion razor, Gillette Foamy or Gillette Fusion for my face to always get that clean, close shave and my cologne of choice, Brut, for 36 years ago, my wife, Pam, married a man, not a man wannabe.
