Pride: a Deadly-"Beast" We Cannot Beat
TAKE A GOOD, CLOSE LOOK
at the photo above. Tell me. What do you see? A woman accidentally spilling some tasty cupcakes, right? Yes, up to a point. What you should see is the overall-pain and loss of self-esteem by this poor woman. Being in a moment like this hurts. And hsurts badly. So what is this man behind her doing, besides guarding his drink like a finely-trained Doberman?
I suppose, like my headline reads,, "Pride," when it turns on you, and it will some day and time when you least expect it, is a stealthy-enemy who loves to have its way--all of the time. I am not stating that we should not have or honor pride. We should. Plus having pride in our appearances, work, and towns. But I cannot answer the question of why does "Pride" treat us like puppets in the bggest puppet show anywhere? If I could, I would OWN Aspen.
I DO NOT FEEL IT NECESSARY
to argue who is more subject to prideful-attacks, men or women, for I am afraid that it is us guys, but I have no proof. This photo does not make men look mentally-stable in not thinking before laying down to bench-press a huge amount of weight and not have a "spotter" to help if he were to lose the weight before placing it safely back on its rests. Pride attacks whomever, men or women, who do not think things through.
SPEAKING OF "NOT THINKING THINGS THROUGH"
take a good look at the length of Jennifer Aniston's dress. No, guys. This is not just for your visual-enjoyment, but to teach you that you can be aware of an evil thought headed your way by just stopping and asking yourself, did Aniston not take the time to realize how she would look? Or even worse, did she think that she was too famous for pride to attack her? Probably the latter.
I am not condemning her or any woman for wearing what she wants, but did Aniston not realize that by wearing such a short dress that just by looking at her, most guys would have thoughts of lust for her and the last time I checked, this is not right.
IT'S A MAN'S TURN
as you look at this man on his way to being humiliated by dropping this gorgeous wedding cake. And there is nothing he can say when it hits the floor besides, "Sorry," and that does not help at all. Pride, I told you, is a "beast" that can silently-sneak up on us and before we know it, we are thinking about something besides the obvious such as where we need to step.
OOPSIE
says this beautiful super-model as she slumps down in front of her colleagues. Why she fell is not important. Maybe one of her high-heels gave way or she might have been exhausted from working too much. Who knows?
But now it is too late for anyone or anything to help as her self-esteem is all but captured by "pride" and she is laughed at by unsympathetic fans of the fashion world who are sitting in the audience.
I feel for the fashion models who are sometimes treated like sled dogs--pushed so hard to sell their boss' designs, they collapse, cannot walk another step. This can be a valuable lesson for this model and those like her. "Pride" has no compassion on her or the everyday woman.
"OUR MARRIAGE HAS ALREADY STARTED OFF BAD"
says this pretty bride. I know. The groom did not mean to make their cake tumble down like a kid's play blocks, but it happened. See the horror on his face? But look at the laid-back image on his pretty bride's face. She isn't in "panic mode." She can endure this embarrassing moment with laughter because she is a good student of using laughter to combat "self-perfecting" pride.
Has any of these things ever happened to you?
YOU ARE LOOKING AT "THE WORST"
weapon that "Pride" can throw at a wife or father: Accidentally dropping their baby or almost dropping the little tyke. You can see the difference in the looks on the woman anman's faces as this accident unfolds. The mother is scared out of her wits while the dad is having a great time with the couple's other baby.
But it could just have easily happened to the dad, and most times, does. Dropping a baby has long-lasting effects. Distrust from the other member of the couple, which "pride" can use to build a dangerous type of pride in the member of the couple who did not drop the baby. A feeling of superiority which is just as bad as the accident.
Being on guard for "The Beast: Pride," is a full-time job. "Pride" never sleeps or rests, so let's all band-together and give "Pride" the "battle of its ife."
NOTE: I am so glad that you read my hubs. I learned from reliable-sources that the reason you like these stories is because of my perrfectt speeling.
